Christian Amatore
Christian Amatore, 59, is Member of the French Academie des Sciences, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Honorary Fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society, Fellow of the International Society of Electrochemistry, and Honorary Member of the Israeli Chemical Society. He is Honorary Professor in many major. Up to 2010 he served as one of the twenty members of the High Council of Science and Technology which advised the French Governments on scientific matters. He received many national and international awards and medals and has been Knighted in the French Orders of Meritus and of Legion d’Honneur.
Christian Amatore provided electrochemists with instrumental and conceptual means enabling them to tackle with important problems in organic, inorganic and organometallic chemistry or in biology and nanosciences. Through the use of the concept of “artificial synapses”, he undertook the careful study of neurotransmission or oxidative stress at the level of single cells. These works correspond overall to ca. 400 primary research publications cumulating over 13,900 citations with a “h-index” of 60.
