Isao Karube

Isao Karube Isao Karube is a Professor and the president of Tokyo University of Technology (TUT), and also director of the Research Institute of Advanced Bionics at National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. He received his PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology (TIT) in 1972. After his postdoctoral career at the University of Illinois, in the US, he had held positions such as Professor of TIT, Professor of Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo (UT), director of the Center for Collaborative Research at UT, dean of School of Bionics at TUT. He has been a pioneer of biosensor and has contributed to the development of biosensor technology. His current research interests include design and development of DNA chip and proteome chip, design and synthesis of biofunctional molecules, environmental bioengineering, and design of Bionics concepts. He has published more than 630 international original papers and 120 books as well as 740 of Japanese original papers, and also has over 200 patents.
