Speaker Biography: Professor Eric Bakker

Eric Bakker is a professor of chemistry and director of the nanochemistry research institute at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Western Australia. He received his education in Switzerland, at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, and earned his doctoral degree with Wilhelm Simon on the topic of chemical sensors. He then pursued postdoctoral studies at the University of Michigan in the United States and was a faculty member at Auburn University and later Purdue University, West Lafayette. He has co-authored about 170 papers, most of them on the topic of chemical sensing, especially potentiometric sensors, pulsed galvanostatic sensors, and microsphere based suspension array chemistries.
