Speaker Biography: Professor Peter Seitz
Peter Seitz received his Ph.D degree in physics in 1984, while working at the Institute for Biomedical Engineering at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland. From 1984 to 1987 he was a staff member of the RCA Research Laboratories in Princeton (NJ) and in Zurich. Afterwards he worked for the Swiss research center PSI as a group leader. In 1997 he joined CSEM (Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology), serving as section head and as head of CSEM’s Photonics division. As vice president of CSEM, he is currently heading the Research Center for Nanomedicine in Landquart, Switzerland. Since 1998 he has also been a professor of optoelectronics at the Institute of Microtechnology of the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland. Peter Seitz has co-authored 180 publications, he holds 30 patents, and he has won 20 national and international awards together with his teams. He is a board member of the European Optical Society, Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal Sensors and chairman of two biophotonics startup companies.
