AET was established in 1994 with core expertise in protein stabilisation. Application of expertise and patented technology has resulted in the successful stabilisation of many enzymes and antibodies spanning a wide variety of applications.

Stabilisation of biomolecules used to produce specific responses in biosensors is a highly specialised area of protein stabilisation. AET has been particularly successful in stabilising and immobilising enzymes onto the surfaces of Biosensors. The synergy within the Gwent Group (LRH Ltd. and Gwent Electronic Materials Ltd.) was obvious and now we can provide a “One Stop Shop” for biosensor design and production.

Novel Biosensors
In house sensors are being devloped for the water and agrifood markets. These include a an ammonia sensor for detecting toxic levels in river water, pyruvate sensor for detecting the sweetness in onions, Organophosphate sensors, glucose sensors. AET is now capable of completing the final biosensor manufacturing steps. These include protein application, drying and packaging. AET is currently putting in place the systems for large scale manufacture (500,000 sensors per annum).

Protein Stabilisation
AETs core business is the stabilisation of proteins in solution or in the dry state. As part of our contract research business we have stabilized over 50 proteins for clients over the years. Companies we work with vary from start-up to large “blue Chip” companies.

Protein immobilization
Immobilisation systems involving pre-stabilised enzymes are the basis of this technique. Much success has been achieved by applying this type of technology to the development of biosensors and the immobilization of my different molecules including toxins.

Speciality Enzyme Production
AET uses its stabilization expertise and patented technology to provide a portfolio of pre stabilized enzymes to clients.

Protein Stabilisation Kits
AET produces a number of protein stabilization kits for clients.  Kits are provided in a user friendly format in which clients can test a number of stabilizer formulations. In the event of a formulation giving encouraging results then clients can buy large quanties of these stabailiser formulations for their processes.

Bioinstrumentation Division
800 Research Parkway, Suite 100
Oklahoma City, OK 73104
USA

ICx Technologies has developed the SensiQ family of surface plasmon resonance biosensors for the determination of the affinity and kinetics of biomolecular interactions.  Whether researchers are involved in studying protein-protein, protein-small molecule, antigen-antibody, or other types of interactions, ICx Technologies has systems to fit every need and budget.

The latest addition to the SensiQ family is the SensiQ Pioneer, a fully-automated, high throughput system designed primarily for protein kinetics analysis as well as studies of protein-small molecule interactions.  The Pioneer can process samples from microplates, tubes, or vials, has in-line buffer degassing capability and a wide variety of surface chemistries to choose from.  The original semi-automated SensiQ system was designed for those laboratories with lower throughput requirements but still had the need to generate high quality affinity and kinetics data.  Peltier temperature control, advanced sensor design and microfluidics all contribute to the generation of high quality data in a very cost-effective platform.  The entry-level SensiQ Discovery is a fully manual system designed for laboratories just getting started in SPR studies or teaching laboratories looking for an easy-to-use, robust system.

ICx Technologies is committed to providing the highest level of data quality for interaction analysis in cost-effective formats.  Please stop by to see to get the latest information on all of our SensiQ systems or contact me at ron.gulka@icxt.com.

MicroVacuum is a world leader in the R&D and production of optical grating-coupled waveguide based biosensors (OWLS) and related modular plug & measure instrumentation.  MicroVacuum was one of the first companies that commercialized label-free biosensor technology in the early 90th.

The OWLS technology provides label-free, real-time, high-sensitivity, cost-effective tools for analyzing and quantifying biochemical interactions on solid surfaces, thus revealing the specificity, the dynamics and the strength of the reaction and the binding. The OWLS system is an excellent tool for analyzing living cell adhesion and spreading on different surfaces. As an immunosensor, it has wide application in food research on determining toxins and harmful bacteria as well with typically several orders of magnitude better sensitivity compared to ELISA kits.

MicroVacuum supports the broad application of OWLS technique by offering different thin-film coatings on the sensor chip surface, including conductive, transparent coating for Electrochemical-OWLS measurements. The Fluoro-OWLS system with special fluoro-cuvette allows combined fluorescent labeled & owls measurements.

The OWLS system is marketed world-wide.

QCM-D by Q-Sense

Q-Sense - click to open the website in a new window

Q-Sense develops and markets research instruments based on the patented Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation Monitoring (QCM-D) technology. Since 1999, when the first commercial system for measurements in liquid was launched,
Q-Sense has become the leading supplier of acoustic resonator based instruments for molecular binding events taking place on various surfaces. Q-Sense instruments are found in over 25 countries world-wide and there are currently over 325 publications citing the use of the QCM-D technology.

The heart in a QCM-D instrument is a sensor that oscillates at a specific frequency when voltage is applied. The frequency changes as the mass on the sensor changes. Turning off the voltage causes the oscillation to decay and the decay-rate is related to the elasticity and viscosity, or structure, of the adsorbed film on the sensor. Simultaneous measurements of both mass and structural properties give a thorough understanding of molecular adsorption and interaction under a variety of experimental conditions. Molecular events and processes such as adsorption, degradation, interactions, cross-linking, cell attachments and swelling can be investigated using QCM-D.
